  • Prediction -- who wins the WCHA Final Face-Off?

We've seen this field with these pairings as recently as four years ago. UND and UMD look to extend their seasons to the next weekend. Who comes out on top in Sunday's final?

The friendly crowd is a big motivator. I got the Gophers.

Granted, I'm picking with my heart a little more than my head, but I'm factoring in the payback factor from 2 weeks ago, last chance for senior class to beat Minnesota at Ridder, a healthier ARD, home jerseys and last change. Plus, the Minnesota/UND game feels like it could be one of those 1-1 games that goes into multiple OTs. Either that or Minnesota steamrolls them.

I like the Gophers chances with Kessel at Ridder. Once they get out east though...
        Go Gophers!

I'm still trying to figure out how an ill Desbiens resulted in the Gophers swarming like bees in the Badger zone and handling the Badger forecheck and backchek with ease 2 weekends ago

passing the flu to the Gophers could account for the Badgers having the upper hand later in the game Saturday, the Gophers were coming down with the flu and had lost their stamina

          hey, it's fan forum

Exactly this. Flu played no role in my prediction.

Sounds like it is UND's turn to suffer from the flu:

Was not impressed with the Rodents play last weekend against OSU. They will not beat Wisco if the play like they did. You can afford giveaways against the Buckeyes but they will haunt you against a team like the Badgers.

Which fighting whatchamacallits squad will show up? The motivated, can play with anyone in the country one, I suspect. I did like when Idalski called Minnesota a "solid" club.
At the outset, we could hang with the dude...

The team had the flu. May have only been a couple of kids not sick fwiw.

Unless und decides to be unbeatable- a thing they apparently can't do unless they are playing mn or wi - it doesn't matter who wins Sunday. Other than the trophy there is no affect on the ncaa brackets or the game that actually matters a couple weeks later.

The 2/3 seed will affect who has last line change should/when UM and UW meet in the finals.

Yes, I desire last line change on behalf of Minnesota. For me also, the national championship is the big one and the most meaningful. But I think the regular season trophy and tournament trophy are valuable as well.

With Wisconsin being regular season champions, I'd love for the Gopher players to regain the WCHA tourney trophy this weekend

If UM and UW meet in the NCAA tournament it will only be in the semifinals
