  • Can Michigan win it all despite Steve Racine?

Michigan is loaded, once again, but also once again, it has shaky to substandard goaltending for the potential this team has. Steve Racine has been starting most of the games the Big 14 portion of the season, and he has nice numbers, but he lets up untimely goals. What is Red's problem with goaltenders? He used to get studs all the time, but now it seems like he's getting goaltenders out of the leftover bin.

Any thoughts? I see UM being lucky to reach the Frozen Four, they just don't have the defensive zone chops.

Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

        Racine is not the issue
        13-2-3 , 915 save %
Both games they list gave up 3 goals, one in which he had 38 saves.
In last 10 games has avg close to 40 shots a game against
Mich won last game despite being outshot 44-33
Last game they lost he had over 49 saves and pp was 0-7
        Real talent there up front!!
Only other game he lost Mich was out shot 14-4 in 3rd period and again only gave up 3 goals, both losses had over 900 save %
First in both conference and overall winning% for all big ten goalies and 3rd in both as well out of all in save %

Mich players need to step up

I can't even remember the last time Michigan recruited and developed an excellent goaltender.

I thought about him, but I was in about 3rd grade when he graduated, which doesn't exactly refute my point that Michigan has lacked star power at goalie.

Al Montoya? He was good, wasn't he?

best offense in the country imo. so much talent and so many lines that can score. if racine is average i think they have a great chance to win it all.

Sorta, if I remember right. When he was on, he was ON. But if he was off....good Lord.

They are very good this season for sure. I see that Racine has a save% of .915 this season? His performance doesn't appear to be a problem.

Let's see what they do at Mariucci against an average Gopher team before we talk about them winning it all.

Split on the road last time. I like our chances.

As middling and overrated I thought Montoya was at UM, he's amazingly still in the NHL and getting playing time. I guess that means Al Montoya has scoreboard.
