When does D3 get to start practicing?

    When does D3 get to start practicing?

    Does anybody know or remember the official start date for D3?

    10/15 or thereabouts. I think this year it is the 18th.

      Correct on 10/15, per the NCAA Women's Sports Inventory handbook. It also states the first contest can be held on...
      Nov. 1, or the preceding Friday if Nov. 1 falls on a Sat. or Sun.

        Thanks. I knew it was sometime around mid month but didn't remember if it fluctuated each year. So you're saying games can start on October 30th this year. That gives them 2 weeks to get ready to play. Aren't the NESCAC schools similar to the Ivy League schools in D1 in that they start later than everyone else?

          It is not 10/15. It is Monday October 19th.

              Yep. They start play the week after the football season ends. Practice, I believe, starts 2 weeks after everyone else - so around Halloween.

                DIII men and women start the 3rd Monday of October. I think that changed about two years ago.

                    NESCAC schools can't start winter season until fall sports season is done. So, traditionally, they can't hold official practices until 1 November.
