  • >>> RIT Tigers: Going for another successful CHA title defense (15-16)

    RIT schedule press release: http://www.ritathletics.com/news/201...624150550.aspx

    Non-conference home games:
    Minnesota State Mavericks, Oct 2 & 3
    RPI Engineers, Oct 9 & 10
    Colgate Raiders, Nov 13
    Brown Bears, Nov 20 & 21
    Princeton Tigers, Nov 27 & 28

    Non-conference road games:
    Union Dutchwomen, Oct 23 & 24
    Colgate Raiders, Nov 14
    Providence Friars, Jan 8 & 9

Now that's a non-conference schedule; Coach Wilson, take note. How about next year we get the women involved in Homecoming again, though?

The CHA Tournament will be held at a neutral site for the first time, at the HARBORCenter in Buffalo, conveniently located for Mercyhurst and RIT fans.

Please allow this Gopher fan to pass along best wishes and good luck to the RIT Tigers women's hockey team for the coming year.
Simply because they were well represented at Ridder Arena for the quarter finals last season and, relatively speaking, the community seems to support the team well.

Wow, should be a lot of wins in that NC schedule. They should be able to win 10 of those 14 games.

Congratulations to Celeste Brown, who signed a pro contract with the New York Riveters of the new NWHL.

The press release claims this is the first professional contract signed by an RIT women's player, but Sarah Dagg and Katie Stack were drafted by CWHL teams in 2011. Apparently they never signed contracts?

I don't know if they signed contracts, but the CWHL is professional in name only.

Are you suggesting the NWHL is different in that regard. Let's wait a year or two and then decide. ! (Don't get me wrong, admire and commend the venture and the Nth attempt at this, but only tie will tell if it will be any different than the various past forays)

We'll have to wait and see if the NWHL is successful. However, they are committed to actually paying the players (which, on net, the CWHL did not), so they meet the actual definition of being a professional league.

I believe it means that the money from the programs budget that was previously used to pay the coach's salary is freed up to now be used in other areas of the program. Should help with recruitment, and alot more visible spending on the team.
...and whadaya know, it's another freshman...

Here is the incoming freshman class for RIT. 9 players with a lot of similar qualities to the players that just left from what I read in the article. http://ritathletics.com/news/2015/7/...720153332.aspx

Four forwards graduated; six forwards in the freshman class. Just extra depth, or will there be other departures?

After how last year played out with all the injuries I will go with the need for depth. I had no news of any one departing so far either.

Keep in mind between the 13/14 and 14/15 seasons, they lost 6 forwards (2 to graduation), and only brought in 2. So I assume they are trying to get the bench a little bigger.

That's the most positive thing For RIT lately. Don't think they're going to defend the title...not even close.

Well, frankly, the last two years their regular season performance hasn't reflected the outcome of the tournament. If nothing else, RIT has shown that anything can happen in the postseason. We do need to find some goal scorers, and for one of the goalies to step up and take the starting job.
