Thanks for the nice words. The PK has been a definite improvement over last year when it ranked 44th in the country at 80%. Two years ago, Union was 30th at 82.4%.

Against Vermont, I recall seeing guys like Vecchione, Walker, J.Taylor, Gingras, Foo, Wilkins and Henry out there during PKs.

Copied from another thread ... worth reading.
I had no idea that the WHCA is losing so much money. Does anyone know how much the ECAC makes? Does it matter to us? I hope attendance at Lake Placid keeps growing.

Looks like we play North Dakota next year (2016-2017), in Schenectady no less and then we visit Grand Forks for two the following year (2017-2018) Our program has come a long way ..... who would have ever thought an elite program like the "Fighting Sioux" would ever come to our barn?

Merrimack will be very tough. Their high scorer will be back and he missed the Andover game. This is a toss up .... We are virtually tied with Merrimack in the pairwise. We are both very young teams.

Kudos to our seniors and upperclassmen for this one. We needed our seniors and upperclassmen against a very tough and determined Merrimack team.
                    Gingras - Sr
                    Cruise - Sr
                    Roy - Sr
                    Wilkins - Sr
                    Henry - Jr
                    Vecchione - Jr
                    Taylor - Jr
                    Pontarelli - Jr
                    Lichtenwald - Jr

These upperclassmen also played on the National Championship team and they know the price you have to pay and the intense competition to win D1 College Hockey. Merrimack's last shot was blocked by Vecchione. Tough gritty hockey where losing is not an acceptable outcome.

Ryan: Another great write-up. More frightening facts about Robert Morris:

                      - Blocked Shots: They lead the nation in blocked shots at 19.22 per game. They often block 25+ a game. We average 11.
                      - The Colonials have 28 first period goals in 18 games, the most in college hockey.
                      - The Colonials also lead the nation in second-period goals (31). Robert Morris has 22 goals (60 points) in the first five minutes of a period, both NCAA-best marks.
                      - RMU sports 9 seniors
                      - RMU has (according to their website) the oldest team in college hockey
                      - The Colonials return seven of their top nine forwards from the 2014-15 team, all eight defensemen and all three goaltenders.
                      - They beat Univ Michigan in Ann Arbor 4-0
                      - They lead us in the pairwise !!!

Dartmouth shut them out for two periods
Dartmouth outshot RMU 19 - 2 in the second period, had a 29 - 10 shot advantage after two periods, 18 vs 37 at games end
                      Grant made 17 saves.

The Colonials went 0-3 on the power play, ending a streak of 12 consecutive games with at least one power play goal, marking just the fourth time this season Robert Morris hasn't scored on the man-advantage.

"We just got outworked," said Head Coach Derek Schooley after the game. "Hats off to Dartmouth. Anytime you get outworked in a hockey game no matter who you're playing, you're going to lose the hockey game. Hats off to them. They wanted it, they went out and took it."

"We didn't capitalize on our power play and our power play has been outstanding," said Schooley. "We turned too many pucks over tonight. They took advantage of their chance and that took a lot of wind out of our comeback."

                      - Oh, they have never been shutout.

A pretty good day for the Dutchmen: a 5-4 win over a good Robert Morris team and Troy Grosenick was recalled by San Jose.

Our almost final NC is 7-3-1 with just the Mayors cup remaining to be played. I wish we had beaten Michigan rather than just settling for a tie. To get out of the "basement" of the ECAC, we need to focus on ECAC points from here on out. We want home ice for the first round. School starts Monday and Q and Princeton are Thursday and Friday. Need fresh legs.
Question: What did Scarfo have for breakfast? Three penalties? Can Gingras get two assists on those RMU goals?

Gingras needs to focus throughout the game. 2 SH goals ? really ? sort of made up for it with 2 goals, but that's not enough.
Scarfo needs to come down a bit, take a deep breath and think before doing anything stupid right in front of the ref. Give the guy one or 2 shoves, not 15. Especially against the team that leads the nation on the power play.

Same game without as many penalties and SH goals would have told a much different story

I don't see how we can keep our winning streak alive this weekend. Our matchup with the #1 team in the country, Quinnipiac, is on Thursday and we will have had no rest from Sunday's tough battle with RMU. On top of that, on Friday we have a resurgent Princeton which had a three-goal lead on Q in their last game. IMO we are going to have to dig awfully deep to pull any points out of this weekend. My expectation are very low.

I am very pleased with the play of our juniors and seniors this weekend. Old fashion blood & guts. Our Captains leading the forwards in blocked shots and playing some very tough D. There are many other leaders on this team including Scarfo. However, with his three penalties against RMO I have only one thing to say ...

Vidmar is ECAC Rookie of the month. The 6'3" forward has huge potential as do a number of our freshmen.
