Last year we had a 3 Goal lead on Dartmouth, 3-0, and we let them back in the game and Dartmouth was able to tie it in Regulation and win in overtime 4-3. I hope Coach Bennett shows the-the video to the team.

I am beginning to see the emergence of 4 scoring lines. We could not use our speed against Harvard because they were so fast. Can we use our speed and skating advantage against Dartmouth? Get to the loose puck first. Can we cycle four lines with short cycles? Can we forecheck and cause some turnovers? Who is going to step up? How about the upperclassmen.

Any idea why the start time is 7:30 pm instead of 7:00 pm?

A recap of Saturday's 3-0 win over Dartmouth with all the postgame reaction.

To top things off, Daniel Carr made his NHL debut with Montreal and scored his first NHL goal... on his first shot, during his first shift.

And Max Novak scored his first pro goal, for the AHL's Albany Devils.

          Dartmouth's Take:
          http://www.dartmouthsports.com/ViewA...B_OEM_ID=11600

Though the Dutchmen (5-8-4, 2-5-1 ECAC Hockey) picked up the conference win, few in attendance would argue that the Big Green (3-6-1, 3-5-0 ECAC Hockey) were not the aggressors all night, dictating tempo and controlling the play. However, they ran into Union goalie Alex Sakellaropoulus who turned aside all 34 shots he faced in earning the shutout. Dartmouth’s Devin Buffalo stopped 26 in the losing effort, suffering his first career loss despite several key saves down the stretch.

Good thing we scored early. We took advantage of Dartmouth being a bit slow at the beginning. We managed to hold on even though we were somewhat dominated in the play, especially at center ice. Good game by Sake, I thought the offense was defending well.
I wish Eli played like this more often. He looked hungry out there, the most motivated I've seen him in a while.
              Go Union !!!

Thanks for the tip Dutchman. We enjoyed a pre-game cold one. Game was interesting. Very tight checking, almost boring at times, but a style and tempo the Big Green prefer this year (hopefully we don't turn into Cornell). Nice start for Union and solid goaltending preserved a nice win. Good luck the rest of the way we'll see you in Hanover for our tourney in January!

Massachusetts Edged by #3 Quinnipiac, 1-0
Dill made 22 saves for the Minutemen and turned aside a penalty shot opportunity.
                    Junior captain Steven Iacobellis.

                    Nov. 28, 2015
                    Box Score

HAMDEN, Conn. - Massachusetts hockey held a 28-23 advantage in shots, but could not manage to solve Michael Garteig as the squad was edged by No. 3 Quinnipiac, 1-0, on Saturday evening at High Point Solutions Arena. The setback leaves the Minutemen at 6-5-4 on the season while the Bobcats improve to 13-0-2 on the year.

UMass out-shot Quinnipiac 15-4 in the first period but the Bobcats went into the intermission with a 1-0 lead. Tim Clifton won the puck in the corner and sent a centering pass along the goal line to Scott Davidson who was alone in front to tip it past Henry Dill at the 8:07 mark.

In the second period, the Bobcats were awarded a penalty shot 3:28 into the stanza as the result of a tripping call against William Lagesson. Dill turned aside the attempt by St. Denis, though, to preserve the one-goal margin.

In addition to the 28 on target in the contest, the Minutemen had 23 more attempts blocked by the Quinnipiac defense. UMass held the Bobcats to a 0-for-1 night on the power play as the squad has now allowed just one power-play goal over the past eight games, killing off 23 of the last 24 man advantage opportunities. (Its now 28 of the last 29)

Dill finished the night with 22 saves for the Minutemen while Garteig totaled 28 stops en route to the shutout. UMass will return to action next weekend when the squad will head west to Notre Dame. Game one of the Hockey East weekend series is set for a 7:35 p.m. start on Fri., Dec. 4. Massachusetts is better than their record. They are more of an offensive team. Massachusetts has nothing to lose, will come out smoking and be desperate to get a win and stop the losing streak. They have some very high-level NFL draft picks (4). They score most of their points in period 3. We don't want to go into period 3 with a one or two point lead. We need to take it to them from the getgo. Their Olympic Rink should work to our speed advantage. We need to continue to use our speed to take away space and time. We need this next 4-non conference wins. 60 minutes, no letup. We took our foot off of the gas against NH and UNH ran over us. Let's not have it happen again. We need Eli and the Captains to step up.

"UMass hockey looks to get back on track in nonconference contest against Union"

                          http://dailycollegian.com/2015/12/10...against-union/

Specifically, the Minutemen (6-7-4, 2-4-4 Hockey East) have played six of their last seven games away from home. They went 0-4-3 in that stretch and have fallen into a four-way tie for sixth place in Hockey East with eight points. Friday night, UMass will finally be back out on the Mullins Center ice when it takes on nonconference opponent Union, which won the national title in 2014.

Both coach John Micheletto and captain Steven Iacobellis voiced their excitement when asked how it felt being home ... there is no doubt UMass will look to come out firing against a versatile team like the Dutchmen.

Union blew a 3-1 lead at UMass after two, but Vidmar bails the Dutchmen out with 9 secs left in OT. Dutchmen win 4-3.

                                Irony:

Umass star freshman was from Sweden.
"Lagesson Named To Sweden’s Preliminary WJC Roster"
The Minuteman freshman is one of eight defensemen competing for seven roster spots.

But it was our freshman from Sweden, Sebastian Vidmar, that was the star for us.

Our very talented freshmen class is beginning to assert themselves. Both our 6'3" freshmen forwards were on the ice tonight. The Captains played well, especially when it counted in killing that 5 minute major. Refusing to accept defeat as an option. Haven't seen that in a while.
