  • St. Lawrence Skating Saints Lake Placid Edition

    Playoff scenarios:
If Q loses tonight we play Union
If Q wins and Yale wins we play Yale
If Q wins and Harvard wins we play Colgate

No easy games but I think the larger ice surface will play in our favor.

Congrats to the SLU team, program, players and coaches on making it to Lake Placid! Now the fun is just getting started!

This team has all the ingredients to win an ECAC Championship. Having been in LP in 2000 and 2001 to watch SLU win championships, I've got that same feeling I had over a decade ago.

I've ordered my tickets and have my hotel room reserved. We'll find out soon enough who we play on Friday.

With the old SLU thread closed out, let the fun begin here!

Hope to see many SLU faithful this coming weekend.

I too remember those two weekends in 2000 and 2001 playoffs. What a joy that was!

I'll be there as well as a few others who are travelling with me. It's nice to live in Plattsburgh now and only be a mere 35-40 minutes from Lake Placid! I hope the rest of the Saints faithful show up as well and we cheer our team on to victory.

Hey, Got6, if we win the Championship this weekend are you going to create a new screen name of Got7, Want More?

I am planning to be there and it'll be Got 7, Need Nine!

Extremely proud of this team and think we have the best balance, the best skating D, and the best goaltender in the league! So it's Colgate or Yale! No one has an easy game on Friday! No matter who wins the silver spoon battle in New Haven tonight!
9/11/01 - Stewie & Pelch, you are missed by the SLU Family.

Yup, it's Yale or Colgate in the late game (7:30 start) ... Both will be tough, but I have to wonder if Colgate (who we don't match-up well against at all!) will the worst option of the two. Their team speed would negate any potential larger ice surface advantage we had on the teams in Lake Placid. Plus, they did make it to Lake Placid last year and made the finals. You would have to think that experience would benefit them big time. Either way, it's pedal to the metal and give it 100% all weekend. We can do this Saints!

Good Luck Saints !!!! Wish we could have been in Lake Placid but it was not to be. Pulling for the ECAC and hoping all four of you make the NCAA's !!! Great year for you ..... proved the skeptics all wrong.

Harvard beats Yale 3-2 in double OT, so Colgate it is. Harvard and Quinnipiac will assuredly play in the early game.

Ugh, not the match-up we wanted by any means. It will be an all out battle. It would have been nice to play a team that isn't equally as fast as we are so we could take advantage of the larger ice sheet up there. Either way, we make do with the hand we are dealt and we play as hard as we can and we can pull it off! Hayton better be on top of his game! There is one good thing though ... We are the 7:30 instead of the 4:00 game (or so we all think!)

Spiro was in town for both our match-ups earlier this season ... If we get another A+ goaltending effort for Kyle Hayton, then we have more than a good shot ... **fingers crossed**

So, just to point out the obvious, I'm angry there is no consolation game. It could help every team going to LP this year after a loss on Friday, and may be the difference in as few as 1 and as many as 3-4 ECAC teams making it. Plus, if you are making the trek to LP and spending the jack, who would only rather see their team play once? Just another brainless decision by the ECAC. A few years ago, SLU wins against Princeton and gets in, ties or loses and we were out, we officially tied and then won in a shootout and even though we didn't get the result to get into the dance we needed, it was still a good game to watch. And, honestly, if SLU loses on Friday, I doubt I would stick around on Saturday and pay for another night in a hotel. Is that the way the ECAC really wants to go about getting the most fans there on Saturday. Just a bad decision all around

Here's hoping it doesn't matter for us!!

In 2007, our consolation game against Dartmouth resulted in a win that got us in. FWIW, I always enjoyed consolation games and thought they were good therapy for all involved,..........,including the fans.
