UWO 1 - McGill 0 after one...on a PP wrist shot from the point through traffic at about the 8:00 minute mark on what I believe was their first SOG!

Interesting game. McGill the more skilled and faster team have won 4 of the last 7 National Championships and UWO is here for the first time.

Daoust with some nice chances but turned away by Campbell.

Western has to stay out of the penalty box if they expect to win this one.

This game kind of reminds me of watching a BSU game.

Nice to see such top notch television coverage.

"Startling developments" as the play by play guy put it!

        UWO 4 - McGill 0 after two. SOG: UWO 11 - McGill 31!!!!

Western chased Hough after scoring twice in the first 5 minutes of the second and added another on a gorgeous wrist shot about 8 minutes into the period.

McGill with tons of opportunities but Campbell is having a tremendous game...and she was a walk on 4 years ago!

Western seems to be getting stronger as the game wears on as they did in yesterday's semi final...and continually scoring doesn't hurt the confidence level.

Very entertaining game...startling indeed. And so much for the mild comparison to BSU.

Hard on 'stangs!! For those unfamiliar with the expression, it does not mean what you might think.

A shocker indeed even though it was the #2 seed that upset the #1 seed it seemed like they were the decided underdogs.

            UWO 5 - McGill 0 Final!

In their first Championship Game appearance the UWO Mustangs defeat the defending champs.

McGill's Oles, with a stupid undisciplined move to end the 2nd period, after the buzzer sounded to end the period and with Campbell starting to leave her net, approaching the net with the puck decided to bury it anyway and then skated to the bench and off with the rest of her team to the dressing room. No signal from the ref was surprising and lead the viewer to believe that she got away with a cheap one. But it was not to be as she started the third period in the penalty box for unsportsmanlike conduct. Good for the refs. Dumb move, especially in a championship game.

McGill pulled their goalie with 5 minutes left in the game down 4-0 but couldn't solve Kelly Campbell and lost the advantage at their blue line trying to prevent a shot on their empty net. The Mustangs scored on the ensuing PP to make it 5-0.

Campbell was the player of the game.

The score was not indicative of the play...very entertaining game.

UWO ends their season at 28-1-3 with a shutout in both the semi-final and the championship game.

            Amazing.

Congrats to the Stangs... "R U PUrple" (Oldest played for them a long time ago, so that color is prominent in our house hold).

Interesting....my D was recruited way back when by Western, but they were so awful at the time she refused to even entertain playing there....even though Dad thought the schooling would be second to none...I was over ruled....

Mine went there for the Hockey AND the schooling. She could have gone to an Ivy, but decided to stay in Canada. The schooling was great, the Hockey was a lot of losing at the time, but in the end the decision for her to go there paid off. She is just about to become a doctor.
