Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

In alumni news, Chris Conner is seeing his first NHL ice time of the season tonight with the Capitals. Game is being televised on NBC Sports.

Going forward it would be nice if we could cut down on the turnovers. I like our team but you can't turn it over so much.

This past weekends game were quite different from those at Mankato. Tech faced no pressure until they reached UAH's blue line. As a result, things went smoothly and quickly out of the Tech D-zone and accounts for why most of the game was played in front of UAH's goal. It will be interesting to see what kind of game BGSU brings and how Tech handles it. They looked uncomfortable against Mankato's pressure in all three zones and had very little trouble with UAH's game plan to pack it in around their goalie and block shots, clear rebounds, etc.

Yeah, we don't yet have a full stable of D-I forwards that can forecheck for 100 feet.

BG did much of what we expect from them when they were in Houghton. High pressure forecheck using three guys, play the lock,
lots of pressure on the points on the pk, try to play the game in our end and get lot's of turnovers.
It will be much more difficult than vs Huntsville.

This system is played by quite a number of teams out east, but honestly with more skill up front than BG. Quinnipiac, Providence, Lowell, Vermont, all play it or the trap, which of course is similar. That's why I say we have to limit the turnovers. You have to be very patient with these type systems and get the first goal. Quinnipiac is 14-0 when leading after two for instance, and 11-3 when leading after 1. They have very high skill forwards, thy can skate, and can counter attack very well. They win face-offs, clutch and grab a lot and depend on the great pk to get them out of trouble.

Providence, plays the trap, though I've only seen them once, and they love to forecheck hard. The forewords are not as high skill as Quinnipiac's. If they get the puck deep in your end they will bring the defensemen in to the top of the face-off circles to add additional pressure and get more turnovers. They like to come out of their end on their right side, and hit the left wing streaking down the boards. If you force them to come out the left side, they will try to get the right wing coming across from right to left thru the neutral zone.. In both cases they like to enter the zone on the left wing boards. And of course they have a very good goalie, better the quinnipiac's. A great example of an up and down team vs Providence, was last weekend's games vs UNH. Low scoring, few opportunities.

We have to learn to play well coming out with the heavy forecheck, pass D to D a lot, and get the puck out quickly.
BTW if we beat BG, then I have us with a fairly good chance at a 1 seed.
In any event, we are going to see this system, played very well, again.

Playing with the predictor. The first few things.
We want BU to lose at some point.
We want UND to win the Nachos.
We want Michigan to win the BIG.
We want Miami to beat Denver.
