DANBURY, CT – Western Connecticut State University added men's ice hockey as a varsity intercollegiate program in August and now it has a Head Coach. Director of Athletics Ed Farrington named former American International College Assistant Graham Johnson as the Colonials' first Head Coach.

When I read that, I thought you were kidding... But sadly, this is legit. This is incredibly embarrassing for the school, I would imagine.

No, it isn't April yet, it is a legitimate link - but "The decision does not preclude future consideration of hockey as a varsity intercollegiate sport."

The article makes it sound like maybe they were just too far behind to add it next year. They still might add it in future years. Though, I imagine they would have said that rather than making it a hypothetical possibility.

Unless they are merely taking a more vague stance to allow more "breathing room".
