And I've never been afraid to wear my Gopher jersey in St Cloud, but apparently I'm not allowed to joke around here....?

I like wearing my gopher jersey to the NHC, but then again i like getting heckled.

state of hockey, MNS, bbdl, and I started a chant to "Sweet Caroline" AT the Red Carpet, where instead of "dah dah dahhhhhh" we chanted "SAINT CLOUD SUCKS!" and no harm came to us. We got some major looks of anger, but nothing happened.

Uh-oh, struck a nerve there I see. Really sorry about that; didn't mean to offend. But, rest assured, our Gopher team and us fans will never go away. Despite trying year after year, the Huskies will never be the State's No. 1 team.....ever. Then again, this is nothing new; I'm sure you're used to it by now...

This is some of the worst trash talking I have ever heard. Wow.

I realize this is against the rules in a UM SCSU thread to talk hockey this early, but I might not look here for a little while, so....Any SCSU fans care to give a team assessment (sans sandbagging), with which big players were lost and who seems to be stepping up this year? Strengths and weaknesses? Don't follow that anymore with non-con teams now.

We lost Nic Dowd, our most dynamic offensive player, Kevin Gravel, our most well-rounded defenseman (2 PIM in 38 games), Cory Thoroson, a grinder who helped kill penalties and showed some scoring, and Ryan Faragher, who I'm sure you remember as our starting goalie. We didn't lose many guys, but all of the players we lost were very useful.

Our strengths are speed, we're a very disciplined team that doesn't get called for a lot of penalties, and we bring back quite a bit of scoring. Our junior class is outstanding, led by Brodzinski, Kossila, Benik and Prow. Our issues: the biggest question marks right now are in our own zone; goaltending is talented but unproven at this level and we don't know how the blue line will look yet. We have been outscored 6-2 in the first period, though half of those goals surrendered were Friday night against Union. And we don't have a ton of size (6 skaters listed as 5'9 or shorter), but that's nothing new for us.

As for this thread… sheesh! Its almost Wednesday and nobody has even bothered to debate whether Herb Brooks did or did not sign a young child's program on the SCSU page yet? This thread sucks more than these games will. Gophs sweep, 8-1 Fri, 4-1 Sat

Well the majority of the MN fans don't think you are a worthy team to talk about. Even the ticket prices show that. Not a premiere game. But Notre Dame is. ($10 difference in prices)

Pretty sure the result would have been different if we were wearing Gopher gear on a Gopher series weekend. :)

Did well, until the last sentence when you broke the anti-sandbagging rule.

Why would we care how much you old shrivs have to pay for tickets?

Because many of the Helmet Kids think they are a rival of MN. They're not and the prices show that.

You don't care about SCSU, but you have posted more than anyone in this thread.

It's fun to a certain point, I agree.

Unrelated to this series: Having the student section at Amsoil "A-HOLE! A-HOLE! A-HOLE!" me was kind fun.:D

Huskies really need to come out of the gates on fire Friday night to give Charlie a chance to settle into the game. With only two series in the books we have laid an egg on Friday night and although we played two great teams I think we must get off to a better start and that starts with defense. Having watched the gophs a couple of games on the tube I will say they are impressive and hell who would not be with the talent pool they get to select from but they are surely beatable as well.

Looking forward to this weekend and yes the fans will be ready for the game on Friday night and enough with the SCSU fans as being classless. We are no different than any other fan base out there and yes we do like it when we beat you as you and are not afraid to express it. It is equally annoying to talk with gopher fans that feel they are entitled to everything as you have a great history and a bunch of great pros. (again we get it and good for you with your championships! Job well done! and we are from MN as well and many of us cheer for you when we are not playing against you)

I am going down to Mariucci on Sat as well and look forward to hanging out in dinky town before and after the game. I enjoy the game down there as well and like many people I do wish the atmosphere was more exciting but that will be on the huskies to make it more exciting.

Will be a fun weekend and I am thinking a split is in order.

I agree with this part of your post. I think the Gophers got outplayed against Bemidji on Saturday, but the Gophers' talent was just too much at the end of the night. I doubt that will be a problem against SCSU, at least not for the game in Cloudtown.

I'm the same way. If the Gophers are eliminated, I cheer for the other MN teams in contention. It's fun to banter with each other, and it makes the in-state rivalries fun, but in the end I gotta support the game in-state. Looking forward to a couple of exciting games between two good teams this weekend.

Yeah as much as we like to poke fun at one another, when it gets right down to it most here would cheer for any of the other Minnesota-based teams when playing a team from out-of-state. As in I was glad to see SCSU come back and beat Union on Saturday. And the SOG margin (39-24) proved it was no fluke. Should be some excellent hockey this weekend. Gophers better be ready!

I question this.

I also want the MN teams to win, and hope for a sweep of conference titles. I'd prefer UMD over SCSU, though, but you get the idea.
