Fair that! Not yet anyway...... but soon to be QED.... thought I'd throw some math terminology in (it's RPI after all - hopefully I remembered the correct usage..... )

Not often that a weekend this early in the season can be considered crucial...but. RPI is at home this weekend to Brown and Yale, probably two of the teams (along with Colgate and Union) that they will need to put behind them to advance to the playoffs (a modest goal that I have arbitrarily set for them for this year). If they can't come up with a few points this weekend I may go into hibernation for the rest of the season.

Really nice to see the team come up with a conference win tonight, but man was that a sloppy game for both teams! RPI will have to be a lot sharper tomorrow against Yale in a game that is very important. With Dartmouth coming up with a tie against QU tonight it is looking increasingly like RPI needs to put all of these teams behind them to make the playoffs: Union, Colgate, Brown and Yale. And the toughest of those will be Yale.

No need to apologize. But maybe there is a need to clarify. What is it that you don't see happening? RPI beating Yale tomorrow? RPI making the playoffs? Both...or something else entirely?

Both but primarily RPI making the playoffs.

Sorry I was right about them not beating Yale. The second part of my prediction is practically a lock.

Here is a very clumsy translation from Swedish, of an interview with goalie recruit for next year, Lovisa Selander. A couple of interesting things from the interview: sounds like she has had a couple campus visits, once in Feb. and again a few weeks ago; and she seems to make reference to a Danish recruit for next year, unless I am misreading it. Anyone know anything about that?

                        I have seen worse translations.

Josefine Hansen, although living in NJ, is Danish. I don't know if she was born there, but she played on a Danish National team.

Good point, that was probably to whom she was referring.

Strong weekend for the Engineers...looks like the team is really starting to come together. Friday saw a good game between two evenly matched teams, with RPI coming up with a 4-3 win over Princeton. Big improvement in how our forwards drive to the net, and O'Brien had a strong game in net.

I missed the first two periods of the QU game, and the Engineers must have been badly outplayed, based on the shot count, and I have to assume that O'Brien kept them in it (for the second game in a row WRPI named her defensive player of the game). However, in the third I thought RPI looked as strong as they have at any time this year. Although they couldn't score against the stingy Bobcats, they skated well, connected consistently on passes, cycled well in the offensive zone, back-checked, blocked shots...and had a few good chances. In total RPI only managed 8 shots on goal, but that is fairly typical for teams playing the Bobcats. Teams coached by Rick Seeley (first Clarkson, now QU) are the most defensively disciplined in the NCAA: keep teams to the perimeter, block shots, and they don't take penalties.

I didn't see this announcement back in November, but it looks like the Engineers will be bringing in another SSM grad next year: Taylor Schwalbe, from Anchorage Alaska, forward, shoots left. http://ssmhockey.org/news/seven-hock...ers-of-intent/
