    Groundhog Day?

another game with shots much in their favor....and yet another typical loss to a bad team.

With last nights loss the Friars head to a month long break at 3-14-3 overall record. If the season ended today they would make the playoffs, but to remain in this spot they need to find some offense. Averaging 1.5 goals for per game and giving up over 3.5 will not keep them there in the second half.

I'm confident that the Friars will remain in the top 8 and make the playoffs.

Super and well deserved - maybe a sign of better days to come for the program!

Hanrahan Named Hockey East Player Of The Week
The senior earned the award after recording four goals and three assists last week.

              Jan. 12, 2015
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Providence College women's hockey senior forward Beth Hanrahan (Poolesville, Md.) has been named Hockey East Warrior Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference on Monday, Jan. 12.

Hanrahan was named player of the week after helping Providence to a weekend sweep over UNH (1/10-1/11) and a tie at RPI (1/6).
Against RPI to start of the week, Hanrahan had the game-tying goal in the third period in addition to gathering an assist earlier in the contest. Versus UNH on Saturday at Schneider Arena, Hanrahan recorded an empty net goal to seal the Friars' 3-1 victory. In the series finale on Sunday, the senior scored the game-winning goal as well as assisting the first goal of the game and the last goal of the game in a 4-1 win.

The Friars return to action on Sunday, Jan. 18 when they host the Hockey East series finale against Maine at Schneider Arena. Puck drop is set for 2:00 p.m.

I have not followed the Team as closely this year but hoping for big final weekend and a new start in the post season.

I didn't know the trend line of PC record but looked up on the Hockey East site.

                2014-15 to date 6-21-4 Overall (5-13-1 Conference)
                2013-14 11-24-0 Overall (6-15-0 Hockey East)
                2012-13 15-16-5 Overall (8-10-3 Hockey East)
                2011-12 16-17-4 Overall (11-8-2 Hockey East)
                2010-11 22-12-1 Overall (12-8-1 Hockey East)
                2009-10 15-11-9 Overall (11-5-5 Hockey East)
                2008-9 17-16-3 Overall (12(1)-8-1 Hockey East)

                    Re: Providence Friars 2014 - 2015 Season

Sorry to see the Friars knocked out by BC and not make the Hockey East Play Off on the Cape for the second year.

Hats off to seniors Beth Hanrahan and Haley Frade who played in every game of their career and move into a tie for first place in career games played at Providence with 143. Also to Seniors Brooke Simpson and Allison Micheletti are now tied for third with 142 games played.

Congratulations also to Seniors Suzy Lundeen, Victoria Virtue and 5th year Grad Student Stephanie Demars for a great career!

                    2014-15 to date 6-25-4 Overall (5-15-1 Conference)

                    2013-14 11-24-0 Overall (6-15-0 Hockey East)

                    2010-11 22-12-1 Overall (12-8-1 Hockey East)
                    2009-10 15-11-9 Overall (11-5-5 Hockey East)
                    2008-9 17-16-3 Overall (12(1)-8-1 Hockey East)
                    2007-08 16-16-4 (10-8-3 Hockey East)

The road to success at the program looks like it will continue with Coach Deraney as he is under contract to 2017. Looking at his overall body of work he is one of the most accomplished coaches in the game. Hopefully the facilities can allow a step up in recruits and results.

                        Go Friars!
Coach contracts are nullified out all the time and this definitely does not look like the road to success. Especially when the seniors you list are 5 of the top 9 scorers. Time will tell....
