I look forward to Matthias teaming up with Baker Shore in Crimson and Gold.

Coach Lassonde gone, eh? Saw that coming 2 years ago. He WILL be a head coach somewhere, at some point. Wonder if he'll be with Steve Miller this coming year?? So.... regarding the home schedule release... interesting to see the traditional CC dates. Is Coors Field a dead issue? The NHL has not announced any dates for the Stadium Series yet, but they're saying Colorado is considered a host "city". If it were to happen, and DU was invited to participate, I guess DU could amend the schedule still; or, could this possible be an "extra" game not on the schedule?
I want to be a fan of the best team in college hockey - so that explains why I am a DENVER fan!

I really didn't expect either Miller or Lassonde to stay past this year. It was good to have some continuity since Gwoz's departure was such a shock.

In addition to Cornell, I just heard from a reasonably well connected person that Michigan State will be another away series to be added to the schedule.

Said person also pointed out that having the UND series during winter break allows the ticket office to sell seats otherwise reserved for students to Sioux fans (at a higher face value, plus the ticket premium) and make a good bit of cash. Makes business sense, but not emotional sense.

That's just great. Arrange to turn Magness into REA south. Swell. Is there nothing they won't do for a few bucks?

Whoa, what a way to lose by North Dakota, being on PP with half second left. Ouch. Kick in da gut there. Nothing much against Gophers, but have to root for Union for the title.

Nothing wrong with seeing North Dakota lose, but I will definitely be rooting for Union in the title game.

I thought I was going to want BC to win after losing to them, but I have to say, it doesn't make me sad to see Union beat them. The game's been over for several hours now. I wonder if Johnny Gaudreau has signed his pro contract yet. I will be a little surprised if he hasn't signed with the Flames yet by the time he accepts the Hobey.

As a Flames fan, and since DU will face BC next year, I'd be more than ok with this.

I once had the "pleasure" to watch a game up there with UND against UNO late in 2011 when I was flown to escort someone back down to Denver because their father was at Craig Hospital. What struck me as odd was that when I was walking to the arena I saw a brawl of drunken adults in one of the parking lots before the game. I'm fairly certain they lost in OT and when walking back to my ride, I saw in the same parking lot a different set of drunken adults in another brawl. What struck me as odd was that they all were UND fans and the women reminded me of high school cat fights.

I only saw one other game up there, and when I was leaving and trying to figure out where to drink, I ran into two guys beating the crap out of each other. Both seemingly drunk, both wearing Sue jerseys (and it was freezing up there, neither was wearing jackets... crazy), and both because of, or maybe despite of, their drunkenness neither was hitting the ground.

I guess my point is that if they really want to turn Magness into REA South, provide ample supply of alcohol to the UND fans before and after the game. And if they want to maximize revenue, sell prime seats to watch the fights.

Those two guys in the jerseys were probably UND department heads.

Speaking of Michigan State, my fondest memory of playing them was the pre-game brawl in the old barn in February 1978. The brawl was payback for an MSU player taking out Vinnie Magnan in a game with a cheap shot in the previous season. It was a wild melee.

I feel so bad for UND today - NOT!

Those were two great hockey games today. Gotta go with Union on Saturday. Let the new kid on the block get a NC. And for the Sue, once again, close but no cigar. I'm very happy today. Hakstol still on the outside looking in.

I fondly recall the time Spartan coach Amo Bessone had to be restrained from climbing out of the visitor's bench to take on some hecklers. There was also a memorable game between MSU and the Soviets down in the Springs. Sparty came out very chippy. Suddenly, one MSU player went down with a mouthful of blood, then a second, then a third. Okay, Ivan, we'll get back to hockey.

Yeah, you gotta admire Hakstol's success in getting to the Frozen Four, but laugh a bit inside at his inability to win the title.

Happy to look back on DU ending Blais's last season at UND with a 1-0 DU win in the 2004 regionals, and DU ending Hakstol's first season at UND with a 4-1 DU win in the 2005 national championship game.

Nice memories. But Hakstol is at least getting UND to the Frozen Four. I can't believe it has been 9 years for DU.
