  • D-III All-Americans Watch

As i like to do at this time of the year, I'm actually a little late now that I think about it...I like to post an All-Americans watch with my current projections for who is going to be named an All-American at Frozen Four banquet.

Here are my thoughts currently on the East Region.

    1st Team:

    F. Josh Hawkring, Trinity
    F. Peter MacIntyre, UMass-Boston
    F. Josh Burnell, Elmira
    D. Anton Racklin, Manhattanville
    D. Zach Sarig, Plymouth State
    G. Mathieu Cadieux, Plattsburgh

    2nd Team:

    F. Colin Downey, Bowdoin
    F. Travis Janke, Norwich
    F. Jackson Brewer, Trinity
    D. Ryan Whitell, Norwich
    D. Nick Jensen, Plattsburgh
    G. Jamie Murray, Babson

    3rd Team:

    F. Josh Obregon, Johnson & Wales
    F. Matt Galati, Oswego
    F. Zachary Vitt, Geneseo
    D. Michael Flynn, Trinity
    D. Aaron Deutsch, Trinity
    G. Sean Dougherty, Williams

Anyone willing to step up for the West?

What are you basing this on? He's scored 13 of his 21 points against the worst part of NU's schedule: UNE, SMC, USM, Plymouth, and MSOE. Nothing against this guy personally, but I'd rank him about eighth or ninth on the defense depth-chart, below the other guys that play and the two seniors who got cut this year.

    Are points everything to you?

Nope. I was one of his harshest critics earlier in the season when he had some defensive lapses. However, in January he really turned it on and was our best defenseman for probably a good month. In February he has tailed off a bit again.

I think you're being a bit harsh on ranking him 8th-9th on defensive depth chart.

As well as he's played this semester, you're willing to give the 2nd team All-American nod to a player who only played 1 game the whole first semester?

Pier-Olivier Cotnoir missed 8-10 games last year and was still an All-American...

As good as Nick Jensen is, and he is very talented, the Cards would not be the same team without defenseman Brandon Beadow. As good a defensive defenseman is there is at this level. He's probably not flashy enough for this group but for people that follow the team, he's our best.

                  Re: D-III All-Americans Watch

Glad to see Matt Galati get some recognition, at least from Prez, for his 18 goal season. I would have to say that Kenny Neil is the most talented player on the Laker team but Matt just seems to have a knack for finding the back of the net. The scary part is he has missed a ton of wide open nets, if he hit at least half of those he would have 25 plus goals because he really does have a gift for getting to the right areas.

Laker28 couldn't agree with you anymore and well put. Hopefully in a year or 2 time both will be solid candidates for the 1st or 2nd teams.

Does Mathieu Cadieux of Plattsburgh continue to be disrespected? How simply ridiculous him not being SUNYAC 1st teamer. Does that preclude him from being ALL AMERICAN? No disrespect to Kevin Carr by the way...he was clearly #2 in the conference. Cadieux was a great goalie with the stats to back it. I hope he gets what he deserves.

I think he should be an AA as well but the deck is stacked against him after being named second team SUNY.

Not necessarily so, Beckwith was 2nd team SUNYAC and was elected to 1st team AA
