Great to see Smitty get a commit. I was talking on the phone with a player from Selects on Monday & he told me Smitty was at UA-H for a visit and 24 hrs later he commits. Got to see a lot of him here @ Albany Academy when South Kent would play in the Ryder Cup and always wondered why he was still uncommitted. Good luck to him and your program.
Brandon Pirri: Turk would give it to Jagr. That's awesome! Jagr's untouchable. And he would give it to Jagr.

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out. Couple years back I stayed downtown, walked all over but found very little. So I've resorted to stating out on university, but I plan to stay downtown this trip.

Saw these two interviews today. Pretty good info on the recruits and a bit of a look into how Corbett and the staff seem to be going about their business.
        Here's McHugh's interview: http://www.collegehockeynews.com/new...untsvilles.php
Dunno how much interest the schools he listed actually had in him, but regardless, it is pretty impressive that he decided to come to UAH instead of those other more well-known schools. Also must be a smart kid considering some of those teams.

        Here's Smits interview:http://www.collegehockeynews.com/new...untsvilles.php
Also interesting that we won out for this guy. I like this little European pipeline we've got going on.

Also, I've been following Rotenberger and the Thunder U18s closely. He needs to start picking up the points! For a kid his size on D, I want to see more from him on the scoresheet. But, I understand he is captain on a team that is ranked top 15 nationally. His character is probably off the charts.

Would love to hear any other good insider info on the team and recruits. Let me know what y'all think of this stuff.

I've interviewed Rotenberger for a piece I'll be running on uahhockey.com (because I can't let UAHstatman do everything) sometime. I have to re-write the editorial calendar due to a bunch of things that happened on my end. Anyhow, Teddy came across as very composed for a high school senior.

This all I could find on A. J.
              http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/dfw...?pid=167350821
After he left for "BIG D" in 2000, I always appreciated seeing his "keeping in touch" e-mails and his continued interest in UAH. It looks like we last communicated in 2005 when I was looking ideas for an alternative CHA tournament site. A.J. thought we should try Frisco TX. We weren't Facebook friends, but it's interesting to see that he became friends with Bud McLaughlin 11 hours ago. Then while stalking Bud on Facebook, I enjoyed seeing that he still communicates with Steve Kornya, one of the nicest people I've ever met. I remember Steve's broadcast of UAH's first games against a D-1 opponent (at Air Force). We got to know Steve a little bit during UAH's first trip to Omaha by first sharing some of our travel rations during the flight. Brent Richardson of Uniglobe Travel organized a group tour (including a shuttle bus from the Ramada Inn where we stayed) for those games. Thanks A.J. for bringing the names of all of these fine UAH hockey people to mind.

UAHStatman did a great feature on the BSU-UAH rivalry: http://uahhockey.com/blog/2013/10/22...south-rivalry/

It looks the dastardly Beavers are bringing cold weather to town! Weather.com is predicting a low of 27 for Fri.Night/Sat.Morning. They show that the record low for 10/25 is 27 set in 1909 and the record low for 10/26 is 28 set in 1942.

Okay, so if we really want to push the BSU-UAH Rivalry, BSU Alum Matt Read and the Flyers will take on UAH Alum Cam Talbot and the Rangers tonight. Talbot has been named the starter for tonight with the Rangers, and if you get it, the game will be on the NHL Networks Alternate Channel, at least according to DirecTV.

So BSU and UAH played each other in 19 games over the careers of Read and Talbot. Talbot was in net for 13 of those games and BSU went 12-0-1 in those games. Matt Read had 12 goals and 8 assists in those 13 games.

Hopefully Read will break out of his scoring slump tonight!

Tonight's NYR-PHI game is also a GameCenter Live sample game.

Meanwhile, I'm physically ill that I have to root for the Rangers.
