Getting the thread going. UMass Lowell was named the #1 seed in the Northeast Regional and will meet #4 Wisconsin Friday at 4:30 at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H.
This will be fun, harkens back to the first years of Hockey East when the league and the WCHA had the interlocking schedule. Last time Lowell played Wisconsin was way back in 1988.
Lowell is a quick 40 minute drive to Manchester and based upon this past weekend's HE tournament in Boston, one would expect a very large and vocal turnout of UML fans that could number in the several thousands.
For anyone from Wisconsin heading to Manchester, one place to hit for a great meal is the Red Arrow Diner located several blocks from the Verizon. Open 24 hours (so good for late night drunk food) and been around since the 1920s, the real deal. Warning though is it is fairly small but worth the wait if crowded. www.redarrowdiner.com
