  • Underclassmen On Your Team Likely To Leave Early

It's that time of year when once a team's season ends it can suffer the loss of one or more underclasssmen to the lure of professional hockey. Which underclass player or players on your favorite team may be leaving once their current team's season is completed?

      For Minnesota I'd say....

      Bjugstad for sure gone
      Haula is like 89% gone
Schmidt probably signs somewhere and is gone
My darkhorse is Condon to leave as well

USCHO gives me another reason to not do work while I am at work.

I agree with Bjugstad. Schmidt I would say 75% likely to leave.

Haula, I would put at more of a 50% chance and here's why. Haula is a Wild prospect. The Wild has a pipeline of very good prospects especially at forward. When the Wild picked up Lucia they designated him a longer term project. I'm not saying Lucia is better than Haula, all I'm saying is that the Wild draft players to let decelop and why pull him out earlier than they need to? Now maybe he decides he doesn't care about his chances of playing in the Bigs right now like Bjugstad, that's why I put him at 50%.

I also really don't see Condon leaving. He's fast and good, but needs a little more time to fully develop to the NHL level.

I think Haula back stays - The Wild and Areos are too deep for him to get adequate playing time. I think he will stay to Christen the B1G

That's why I said he is a darkhorse IMO. The main reason I bring up his name is because my dad brought up a good point when we were talking about this the other day. If a few guys like Bjugstad, Haula, Schmidt, (fill in the blank), etc end up leaving early, a guy like Condon(even though he may not be fully ready) might just bail out as well. "If everyone else is doing it...." kind of attitude. Not saying it would be the right move but I could see something like that happening.

SLU's only flight risk is Greg Carey, however with his brother coming in next year, and IMO, not a strong enough skater yet, I am guessing he stays.

I doubt that he will leave with his brother coming.

Looks like the first one to leave this offseason is Lake State Free Agent Jr. Kellen Lain who signed with Vancouver.

UND's entire roster is under class, man and that characteristic never leaves.

Every one of these players is currently a junior and, therefore, are not underclassmen.

                        Underclassmen are freshman and sophomores.

Well I was kind of interested to see which underclassmen might leave...

You wouldn't get much action if you strictly want underclassmen. It happens, but it certainly isn't something that happens often.

Players leaving early, including juniors, is much more likely to happen, and something that we see a lot more of.
