Will it effect the outcome of who is the assistant? I didn't think so.

I can't say as I don't know the situation. I just found the post surprising and was concerned it might have an unintended impact...

I agree. Some personal comments are best left off the internet.

I agree. Some personal comments are best left off the internet. I don't think a lot of coaches,AD's,or any other top college personel come on here to see whats happening with posters they have no clue who they are. I have known the assistant coach for years and I feel for the guy if he is let go. But such is coaching at the college ranks.

I think you might be surprised who reads this forum, especially if they are younger and more internet saavy. I've heard from several girls over the last couple of years that they got calls from coaches after someone erroneously (or accurately) posted their commitment to a school on the forum to see if it was correct. And I've had coaches (especially D3) directly tell me that they have read specific things on this forum about various topics.

Very true. While they may not visit the site with the frequency of those that post, a great many do lurk with some regularity.

I understand the commitment from certain girls being checked on but other than that I just find it hard to believe they would take into consideration of what some poster on here who they have no idea who is take his or her comment to heart. Now with my comment it shouldn't matter one dang bit, only thing that matters is they hire the right assistant and if it's a new one then I trust they did the right thing.

I have heard a reliable rumor that Trinity College is going to announce their new coach very soon. It's not an internal promotion, but a long-time US Women's Olympic Team member, and 1998 Gold Medal winner.

Are there really good youth swimming programs in the area?

That I don't know. I do know that the search process was very thoughtful, and included a broad range of college points of view (including two players). From what I've heard, there was a wide range of really outstanding candidates. I know the team was told who the new coach is today, and I think they're very excited to get started, and expect a very competitive season.

Still no announcement on the Trinity athletics page??? The challenge for the new coach will clearly be to find some more offense. Hard to believe the Pujol/Maxwell goaltending tandem will enter their senior season. The NESCAC should be interesting, as always. I imagine Midd is a consensus choice at the top, but Amherst, Bowdoin, Colby, Conn College, Hamilton, Trinity, Wesleyan and Williams could finish in just about any order imaginable.

Yup, it's still not up there, we keep checking.

I think the offense at Trinity will be strong this year; Glynn and Ostrom are seniors who can score (Glynn was fighting a bad knee last year), and Robinson should be even stronger this year. Kleidon must have hit a dozen posts and crossbars last season -- I'm thinking she'll have a big year, too. Rosen's offense from the blue line will be missed, but the incoming class is supposed to be strong, too.

In just the last few years I think the NESCAC has become even more competitive, teams like Conn, Hamilton and Williams are so much stronger (and Bowdoin's as good as anybody) that it's no longer assumed that the year will finish Middelbury->Amherst->Trinity->Bowdoin. It should be a fun year.

Bowdoin's as good as anybody

While perhaps this discussion belongs over on the NESCAC thread, wherever it has disappeared to, the Polar Bears suffered HUGE losses to graduation, particularly in net. The Bantams, Camels and Panthers all return top quality proven goalies.

Concordia has hired former Gopher player and current equipment manager for Bemidji, Andrea Nichols. Another hire with very little coaching experience.

Their good friends though. Both have little recruiting experience as well. You never know, they might have enough talent to surprise some people. Even me. Ok, I won't rip on CM anymore. Best of luck to them.

Best of luck to them.According to the last assistant coach and my friend he thinks this is the year they make some noise. We shall see. I just hope my daughter likes them because one of the reasons she went there was Coach Bruininks and Coach Vannett. Obviously both are gone now.

Good, because the duo will likely have quite an impact on player development in Connecticut and Western Mass. Something that is sorely needed in these parts.
