Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part III: There Will Be Math Involved
All very true. When the Bee came out the MSU fans really went crazy. We had so much support from the crowd that the noise was constant. We seemed like we were the overwhelming favorite but i was very nervous. A year before i saw what a goalie can do to shut us down (Jon Casey) and felt that Providence had the guy in net who was just so hot that he could do it also. I did not feel comfortable until George was off sides-I thought that sealed it. Not because he scored, but because it just seemed everything was with us and going right.
I thought i would never feel anything like that again. I must say though that in 1995 up in Lake Placid when Mike Tamburro played phenomenal goal to beat Colgate and we went on to face Princeton in the ECAC final-I got a bit of that feeling back again.
Edit: Have to add though that the Princeton fans up at LP that year (and there were a few) were not at all like the UMD fans of 1985. Some of them tried to get the staff at the rink to escort me out of the place because i insisted on squeezing off my air horn after each of the 5 RPI goals.
