  • Who wants to talk about poles?

Just for conversation's sake, here are the current absolutely-meaningless polls for Men's DIII hockey:

(for the sake of comparison, I threw in an extra column in each showing the rank a team holds in the opposite poll, even though all of that information is in this post anyway!)

So, anybody have any thoughts on this? USCHO kept Amherst above Utica, both kept Plattsburgh above Middlebury (although d3hockey.com had them very close).

USCHO has more love for Adrian, Bowdoin, UWRF, and MSOE. D3hockey has more love for Norwich, Middlebury, and NEC.

I think the d3hockey.com poll tends to go by the what have you done for me lately card better than USCHO does. USCHO I feel it takes teams longer to fall and rise.

If I had a vote in the d3hockey.com poll, I would have put Middlebury No. 2 and at worst No. 3 behind Oswego and possible Eau-Claire if they had beat Norwich this past weekend.

If Midd had beaten Norwich, I think I would have put them at #4 behind Oswego, Eau Claire, and Hobart. Hobart may not have had the toughest schedule thus far, but unbeaten in 10 games is still not too shabby.

Hobart may not have had the toughest schedule thus far -- same could be said for Eau Claire. They played Stout the first weekend and St. Norbert recently, outside of those match ups they have had some not so tough opponents.

Something tells me if Hobart stays unbeaten through their next stretch of games before the break (Neumannx2, Buff St and Oswego) then that will change. Don't know if "getting talked about" does anything to help get in the tourney, though.

I agree with you! Hobart definately seems to have it together thus far, and is putting up a lot of points. They could really shake up the East this year
