What exactly is the ACHA? I thought it was "NCAA-Like" organization for non-varsity teams, but then I was scanning their website and it looked to me like there were teams that were in the NCAA Div. 1 ranks. So I'm confused.....

It is indeed non-varsity. Some (Actually quite a few) NCAA schools also have club teams playing in the ACHA.

      About ACHA

Keep in mind, some schools probably have an NCAA and ACHA team. For instance, Robert Morris seems to have both. If you look at the rosters, they are different.

Like the NCAA, there are difference divisions within the ACHA. There are also two divisions for women's teams, I and II.

                It's still club teams.

For example, MSU has a varsity NCAA team, and then D2 and D3 ACHA teams. For some other schools that don't have an NCAA team, the ACHA team is a pretty big deal. A guy I know had a kid play for Davenport's (West MI NAIA school) ACHA team. They went out to play Arizona. 15 bucks for a ticket and fill a good amount of a 6,000 seat arena. I'm sure that's not every game because Davenport was the national champion that year, but that's still impressive. Compare that to MSU where the club teams don't even have all the parents show up.

                    ACHA teams.

a/k/a Penn State opponents no less than 10 times this season with a couple games thrown in against the U-18 team for good measure.

                    Good grief.

Then on the women's side, MSU does not have a varsity NCAA team, but they have D1 and D2 ACHA teams (there isn't a Division 3 in ACHA womens hockey).

Six (2 each vs ASU, Ohio, and Oklahoma). The others that you are probably counting are NCAA Div-III. I don't see a problem with any of this since Penn State is starting up their program. Why dive in all at once?

                          AND???

I know you are a big school up there, but to field both a D2 and a D3 club team is pretty impressive. Very cool.

Robert Morris in Pittsburgh has an NCAA team and an ACHA Division 1 team. Robert Morris in Chicago also has an ACHA D1 team.
