Yep the penalties are typically the ones you take when you are tired: hooking, tripping, holding. The opposite of the aggressive penalties like X-checking, interference, roughing.
Sadly, unless a dramatic improvement happens, which it still can, we are looking at next year. Sad, but realistic.
Am I becoming more like the swami? lol.

1st loss in a month, one point out of first place, 10th in the Pairwise and lots of quality wins on the resume.
The formula in the WCHA hasn't changed in 57 years.
DU needs to split on the road and win at home and they'll easily make the NCAA Tourney.
Chances of winning the Broadmoor are slim, but lets face it, nine teams are within four points of first place. Crazy.
I suspect DU will make the national tournament. They clearly are not in line for the McNaughton. I hope they win round one, because my trip to Minneapolis in March will be a little disappointing if I don't get to see DU (although it will still be fun because I will get to see both of the twin nieces) but I agree that they are also pretty unlikely to win the Broadmoor. I still think that they probably limp into the NCAAs. Frankly, a sixth place finish would suit me just fine.
I'm sticking with what I posted last night regardless of the the 5-1 PASTING we received tonight. For DU to make the NCAA tournament, we'll have to have some impressive wins down the stretch as this team, right now, is not good enough to win the the WCHA final five. I'm actually hoping that after a bye week, we still can win the Gold Pan. If CC sweeps us after the bye week, say goodnight for this season.

Gwoz sounded almost befuddled in the postgame interview. What does it take to keep this team playing at a high level?
When you figure it out, let Motzko know.
Rough weekend for you guys, certainly not the DU team I'm used to seeing.
Hopefully you can get back on track like I hope we just did.

Perfect timing for a bye week. This team has played its best hockey off the breaks. 9-1-0 start and 4-0-1 after XMAS.
For whatever reason they don't play well on Saturday nights. Tired, out of gas, nicked up? Who knows?
