It's that time again! ECAC-East teams are set to begin their seasons (in fact, a few have already done so). I'm going to start this up again this year, and will be sticking with it season-long this time around. A special thanks to USMalum and morkisthatu for picking up the slack last year when I disappeared for a bit. Very much appreciated!
And congratulations to hawk, who became the first-ever winner of the post-interlock ECAC-East Pick 'Em Contest last season. Will he defend his title, or will somebody else step up to the plate? Or perhaps the better question is: will he ever repay that debt to Charlie?
Each week I will post the schedule of all games being played by ECAC-E teams, and one additional game being played by a NESCAC team each week. I'll ask you to respond by indicating your predicted winner in BOLD, with the number of goals you anticipate each team scoring written at the end of the line, like so:
Norwich v. St. Michael's 7-3
Babson v. Castleton 4-1
(winner's score, followed by loser's score)
We will be continuing with the same scoring format as last season, as I think it made for an interesting competition last season. Following the conclusion of all games in a given week, I will tally the scores based on the following rules:
0 points if your team loses or ties
2 points if your team wins
4 points if you correctly pick a tie
+4 to your total for predicting an exact score (win OR tie)
-1 to your total for predicting an opposite score (loss)*
*Opposite score means if you predict Norwich will win 7-3, but they in fact lose 7-3.
As with past years, the competition will continue into the Conference Playoff weekends, consisting of the entirety of the ECAC-East and NESCAC tournaments, as well as the NE-10 games involving St. Anselm and St. Michael's. During these weeks, all point values will be doubled (4, 8, +8, and -2), and posters will have option of predicting overtime finishes, with some risk involved in that selection (+4/-2 for correct/incorrect OT predictions.).
Any posts that are posted or edited after puck-drop of a game that is included in that post will be completely invalid (i.e. NONE of your predictions will be scored). So, if you're late and 1 or 2 games have already started: don't even predict them.
After the 3rd week of this competition, no new entries will have their scores tabulated. You may participate, but you will not be eligible to win, nor will your name or score appear on the rankings.
Best of luck, everybody!
