UConn is such a total disaster of an organization. This might be the high point of their season.

Stefanie Thomson, a junior forward on the women's team, recently blogged for Women's Hockey Life. In this entry, she interviews former Dutchwoman Marissa Gentile about the "mobile upload" trend.

The Dutchwomen (0-4-2, 3-8-2) host the Yale Bulldogs (1-5, 2-10) tonight at 7 in a matchup of two teams hungry to move up in the league standings. To get a quick primer on the Yale women's hockey team, I went to Grant Bronsdon. He's the women's hockey beat writer for the Yale Daily News, the student newspaper at Yale.

Here's an early preview of this weekend's two game set at Maine....

Nice weekend for the Dutchwomen. They had a road sweep of Maine (4-3 Fri, 3-2 Sat) and improved to 5-9-3 on the year. They had 4 wins all of last year.

Among the standouts this weekend... goalie Shenae Lundberg had 67 saves between the two wins... Rebecca Babiak had a goal and an assist on Friday and another helper today... Nicole Bartlett had the game winning goal on Friday and another goal today... Kelly McGrath's first career goal proved to be the eventual game winner today and she added an assist on Friday.

I am looking forward to seeing this team improve over the coming years. This was a great weekend for them heading into the break. They eclipsed last years win total but they have also matched their winningest season since joining D1. Quite an achievement with 17 games left in the season still. Keep it up ladies. Just don't beat my Lady Knights this year ;)

They seem to be slowly moving in the right direction. Scoring 7 goals this weekend was a good sign as they had struggled to score lately. They're still looking for their first league win -- their 5 wins have come in non league games -- though they do have 3 ties in league play. It's not happening overnight, but they'll be a team to watch over the next few years.

No doubt its slow improvement, but when I was still in school they only really ever beat Sacred Heart. The fact they have beaten an under-achieving Syracuse team already is a good sign in my book. Hopefully I can bring some of the Clarkson good luck with me when I start watching and cheering for the Dutchwomen full time next season.

After the Dutchwomen (7-11-3) finished off a weekend sweep of Penn State with a 2-1 win earlier today, head coach Claudia Asano Barcomb spoke with Union Hockey News.

Among the topics addressed - the team's play this weekend, bouncing back from a couple blowout losses at home, and the upcoming game with New Hampshire on Tuesday night. Also, with the program in the midst of its best season in a decade, is the program close to turning a corner?
