It doesn't mean anything...just my own selfish wishful thinking.

No, SLU came into the season ranked, but essentially swapped places with Clarkson after the Golden Knights swept the Saints.

Let me second that well deserved hearty congratulations. An awesome and most impressive milestone! Congrats to Megan!. Nice she could do it at Ridder.

With all due respect to whomever it is picking the three stars of the game and with apologies to Hannah Brandt who certainly, certainly had the stats tonight and who certainly played like the number 1 star, for huge portions of the game, particularly in the second period when the outcome of the game was definitively sealed, Amanda Kessel was the by far dominant player.

There were lots and lots of pretty plays in the game including at least one by Ohio State (I am thinking the second goal) but the first two goals of the second period were both outstanding works of art.

On the first Ramsey made a couple of great plays and got the reward. She corralled the puck in the defensive zone and made the breakout pass to Kessel lurking along the right wing boards. Good enough play already but she saw the open ice ahead and skated hard to get herself into it. Kessel saw her the whole way, held the puck down the right wing side until Ramsey's hustle put her in alone behind the Buckeye defense, then Kessel feathered the perfect pass for a picture pretty goal by Ramsey.

The second goal featured one of those classic no one had to shoot the puck power play goals, the Gophers just passed it around until Kessel emerging from the left wing corner made the final pass across the crease to a couldn't have been more alone McMillen who only had to make sure the puck hit her stick as she made the final pass, the one into the back of the net for another one so pretty that everyone wants a picture of it goal.

Brandt deserves number 1 star, so does Kessel.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

It was obvious to me that neither Brandt or Kessel cared who was going to named the No. 1 star, because both of them are total team players.

With a goal in three consecutive games it appears that this particular item has been located and returned to its proper owner. If Terry stays hot, this team becomes really frightening.

They were kind of scary even when she wasn't. Kortum is scoring, the D are scoring, and now Bona is starting to score. Even that Brandt line chips in a goal every now and again.

Can't help but be pleased with the start and the play so far. Particularly with some justified uncertainty how the team would respond to the significant losses. Tough match ups / battles ahead no question. Starting next weekend.

Great weekend at Ridder though. Great to see Bona break the ice. Great to see Kortum keep it going. Among many other positives. Such as the impressive milestones for #19 and #41.

Kessel's 12 goals and Brandt's 11 are more than have been scored by UMD (9), Bemidji State (6), and St. Cloud State (6). The Gophers have 55 goals, more than twice the second-leading WCHA team (Ohio State with 24).
