Quite a few updates on THG. Updated the recruiting grid, added all of the new head shots, reorganized the schedule with more information to be added there.

Looks good, also nice to see that the live chat is back. It's nice to ***** about the refs with others not fortunate enough to be at the games :)

Tech hockey guide looks good, looking at the recruiting grid, I'm surprised at the bump in the number of forwards slated for next year. I wonder if that will decrease.

Stephen Anderson's freshmen article today in on Gould

It's been out there awhile, but here's a St. Cloud article on Ben Storm's recruitment.

Sure. If Jake Kauppila couldn't make the USHL this year, I don't see him in Houghton next year.

Max Vallis is going to play three years according to Stephen Anderson, so he should probably be bumped up a year in the grid.

I don't know if that's cool having a "season ticket holder" doing your recruiting for you, St. Cloud.

Vallis should start 2013-14 but belongs in the "orange" band with this year's frosh and will be a senior 2015-16 and I expect that kauppila will be in USHL in 2013-14, not in Houghton and be a frosh for 2014-15.

That could probably be a recruiting violation.

That could probably be a recruiting violation.depends if the season ticket holder is considered a booster I would think.

"Storm, who said he had a 3.5 grade-point average in high school, is undecided on what he wants to major in but is considering either business or engineering."

Hmmm...
MTU = Engineering
SCSU = Business

I guess we can chalk that up as decided on the "business" side of the ledger. I'm confident that with the type of recruits Pearson and staff have been landing, if SCSU showed Storm more love than Tech right in his backyard, then Mel decided he has seen better that he wants on the roser rather than Storm.

That seems unlikely unless St. Cloud's coaches specifically called this guy up and told him to start talking to Storm every week and/or benefiting him and his family economically. :p

At any rate, I'm not losing any sleep over Storm going elsewhere, as it appears that Tech wasn't all that concerned with getting him.

I agree. I wish him well. i'm actually more surprised the younger Schuldt didn't commit, seeing as his brother is coming to MTU. a write up about Jimmy Schuldt and his decision.

Even though it can help, getting one brother or cousin doesn't always mean you'll get the other. They don't necessarily want the same thing.

Tech has a LONG history of getting less talented brother. Hopefully, that trend will cease under Mel.

Sorry to see Ben leave the UP for college hockey. SCSU is going to be the wipping boy of the NCHC.

Tech sends out letters to season ticket holders essentially stating that we are "boosters" from an NCAA perspective and not to contact any potential player on our own. If we know of a kid, we are to contact the athletic department and make them aware of him/her and that's it. Having said that, I don't think I'd hang a violation on this. Sounds more like a casual conversation between family friends.

I like it - we've already moved up from 9th to tied for 8th... hey wait a minute that's the same as tied for 9th with the 8th place team.
I though we were making some steady progress there for a second.

Let's just drop the puck on the conference season. Nothing will change folks' minds like a romping of the preseason #1.
