The EIT is only required if you eventually want to become a practicing PE. I passed the EIT as school wound down, but never finished the PE process as I would never have a need in my industry for a PE other than to make my business cards more impressive. However, if you doubt the value of the degree, my company is a good example. I do the same work in my position as another person with a 4-year business degree. My salary is $10+ more than the other person simply because of the degree and different job title (Application Engineer vs Application Specialist). The similar situation would exist between two people doing the same job with ANY four-year degree and a 2-year degree. The pay grade difference is there because if you don't pay someone based on their education (even if you do the same work) they won't be working for you for long.

Oh, I did forget to add in the NHL escrow and some players have agent fees tied to their pay too. So lop another 10 to 15 percent off in addition to taxes. So right out of the gate a player could be missing half his paycheck before he starts deducting day-to-day needs.

And seriously, it's an ME degree, but how usefull will it be when he hasn't practiced anything related to it since he graduated? Plus he would still need to take the EIT.
Its more than likely that John Scott already took the EIT, I did and so do most of us before we graduate, or shortly after. Even if he hasn't, it is far from required to get a job.

With how busy we are at work, if his resume came across my desk, I'd consider him for an interview. Taking the FE and PE are really only needed if you're going into consulting but I would say at least 80% of ME jobs don't require a PE or taking of the FE. I asked it in my interview for my current job and they said don't worry about it.

Exactly. Most ME's don't need it. I asked my current employer, who gave me an offer about 6 months before I graduated, if they wanted me to take the test, they said it was completely useless, and would prefer if I didn't waste my time on it, because it can cause liability issues for them down the line.

With the owners' proposal, the salary cap would roll back so significantly that all current contracts would be rolled back a certain percentage as well, or else some teams would be so comically over the cap that it would take them years to get below it. Maybe they would except players making the league minimum, but I would assume those roll backs would go across the board.

Poganski isn't really a realistic option for Tech at this point. Rostagno is a really nice pick-up for Tech though.

Bryce Reddick has inked with his hometown Las Vegas Wranglers.

One of the few things I didn't mention in my #mtuhky feature about Copley today is Mel mentioned his calm demeanor in net. Obvious today.

Pearson and Shields running part of #mtuhky practice today. Copley has a sweet new helmet, and he's been the best goalie today.

Say what you will about UND players, but at least the only thing they're dumb enough to injure at a team party is their pride:

Joel L'Esperance had the game-tying goal in Tri City's 3-2 win over Indiana today.

Joe Schuldt added another 10 PIMs in Sioux Falls' 5-2 loss to Sioux City, bringing him to 19 in two games.

Tyler Heinonen picked up his first goal of the showcase, in Muskegon's 4-2 loss to Waterloo. Chris Leibinger managed to be +1 in that loss.

I hope his first hire is Randy Schmidt.

What else can he say? He knows its a bad hire so that is his only comeback. In other news, its also another local hire. I'm pretty sure everyone hired has been a colorado resident at the time of hire.
