Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2012-2013 - The LaBahn Era Begins
So are we basically hoping Rigsby steals a win this weekend?

She'll have to be on top of her game, no doubt. Still need to score some goals which has been a grind at times. Wisconsin won't lack motivation as it's the first game since last year's championship game and it's time for somebody to hang a loss on the Gophers.
Badgers have had a lot of success up at Ridder in the past, but on paper this year, it looks to be a tough task.

There really hasn't been a more sickening loss for the teams I follow than the last game of last year for the gals. It sure doesn't seem like UW has the horses to exact revenge on the rodentettes, but you never know.

On this side of the border we have been there way more often than you since 2005.
Let's keep it that way....

Well, the outcomes were not unexpected. I think the UW gals will get stronger offensively as the year goes on and they can do some damage later in the year.

I thought Wisconsin played a hell of a series. Rigsby had the best game I've ever seen her play on Sunday. You were particularly tough in the first period both days, and we were lucky to escape with a scoreless tie the second time. The Gophers had to realy raise the quality of our play in the second and third both days.

Unfortunately, at the end of the day (or weekend in this case) it's still two more losses and the offensive woes continue. Certainly sounds like they were more than competitive (save the Saturday 2nd period nightmare), but they needed points not moral victories.

Your team did improve over the course of the weekend though. If they maintain that level when they return to Madison, I think you'll find that it is a better Badgers team than you've seen previously this season. You'll be able to score some against North Dakota, because they are still a work in progress defensively. Although admittedly, so is Bemidji State and you struggled to score on the Beavers. The key versus the Whioux will be preventing their offense from lighting you up, and I think the Badgers are as well equipped as anyone to do that.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2012-2013 - The LaBahn Era Begins
I've seen improvement since the three game shutout disaster of the UMD sweep and Bemidji loss. In the second game against New Hampshire and the St. Cloud series, they looked like the Badgers of old scoring and swarming the net. I figured goals would be at a premium (and sounds like Raty made some great saves), but I'm still disappointed they couldn't muster more than one goal all weekend.
Getting back to the friendly confines of LaBahn will be nice. An argument could be made that this upcoming series is more important than the Gopher series. Minnesota is going to win the conference going away, while Wisconsin will be in a dog-fight with UND, Ohio State and maybe Duluth for the rest of the year to get the precious 2nd and 3rd spots in the WCHA.
