    Update on Bjugstad

"Gophers forward Nick Bjugstad is regularly working out with his teammates, so undoubtedly is talking about next season. But he's no lock to return. The Panthers, who own his NHL rights, aren't applying much pressure, yet are hopeful he'll sign. A source close to Bjugstad maintains that a decision will be coming soon and it's one he's gone back-and-forth on numerous times. It's hard to say what the call will be. One source this week said he'll be back. Another said he's going pro."

Something like "college". The story is better when you hear the word.) So not a literary giant, but not illiterate.

Hope Bjugstad is back though. They are stacked without him. But he should be the type of player next year that takes pressure off the rest of the players since other teams will have to focus on him, and still should be able to score that goal at the needed time. A potential Hobey finalist, which is often what you see on a team in the finals.
He has come along way for a fellow with a six grade education. In fact he is stinking rich!
Slap Shot - 444 might want to consider a restraining order.
dggoddard - Minnesota is THE ELITE Program in all of college hockey.
wasmania - you have to be the very best to get ice time with the great gophers!

But his wealth appears to be far surpassed in size by his ego. I sure hope he's wrong on this one!

Listen to your Uncle Scott on this one, Nick! You won't ever regret staying if you can win the National Championship.

His ego is unreal. When I was a little Tommy/Johnny/Billy, I met him at some Vikings thing, asked for his autograph (hey, I was a kid!) and he replied, "I don't give out autographs." (insert harrumph-like attitude). Dude, you're denying a 5-6 YO an auto?
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

I don't get it. Why bring in another goalie for next season with Wilcox on the way?

I assume he's replacing Jake Kraemer (who graduated) as the practice goalie.

Read that Justin Shultz is foregoing his sr. year at WI and probably going into free agency. He's taking advantage of a loophole that allows draft picks to go free market if they're not signed in five years. Its the same thing Jas Gregoire and Blake Wheeler did.

This is beginning to look like a great selling feature for all potential recruits. Don't go MJ (unless you want to jump to the NHL immediately). Instead come have fun at a university, develop more appropriately and wait until your a junior when you can sign for the really big bucks. It looks like Bjugs would have two years for this program.

That could change with the new CBA coming up in September.

Normally I would be disappointed to come to the off-season site and see no new posts and the thread on the 2nd page, but if it means a couple more days that Bjugstad still wants to stay enough that he hasn't left is a good thing.

(Nick, I know a former player who clearly was ready when he left early, had a long, productive NHL career, and even though he only gave up one year of playing for the Gophers, he still says he wish he would have stayed!)

It was really great for Haula to choose to stay. He has real potential to take it to another level. And its doubly nice for him to come out so early to set the tone for the rest of the team.

Don't see that this has been posted. Here's the top 10 rated forwards yet to sign a pro contract from reputable Hockeys Future website: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article...ncaa-forwards/

Also, from a local paper...Nick Bjugstad has not yet announced a decision regarding his possible return to Minnesota for another year with the Golden Gophers. He has said that he will make an announcement at the end of his school term, which is now completed.
